Rachel’s Creative Work
Rachel loves local history and living in the North of England and this is reflected in her writing and creative projects. She is particularly inspired by old photos and artefacts – the imprint of a person long gone. What is their story?
Ideas are triggered by seemingly ordinary occurrences in Rachel’s life that suggest possibilities. Her own writing is mostly drama in the form of online radio plays, films & stage plays; usually with a strong central character taking her and her audience on their journey. In 2016, she took her one woman monologue Celia to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Creativity has not just been confined to writing. Working with words, audio, video and visually, Rachel has produced solo exhibitions and also worked collaboratively at both grass roots level and with high profile partners and funders.
But at the end of the day, she feels, being creative is about being true to yourself.
